Is there any written policy where a union leader is a required member of the ZBA?

Yes - the zoning commission has a number of seats reserved for specific special interest groups - the Greater Boston Labor Council, the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce, and the Greater Boston Real Estate Board.

Just read the enabling act. No one is arguing that any rules were broken, correct? Hurley was beyond his latest term and the replacement went through appropriate approvals?

That is correct. The issue seems to be two-fold:

1 - that the Councilors did not realize that McNeil was being appointed to the seat that Hurley occupied.

2 - that Hurley was not told he was being replaced by anyone - GBLC or Wu admin.

The Boston public schools are a disaster. No amount of twisted rhetoric will justify the $35,000 per student and a terribly bloated system. It’s disappointing that the state will not enforce the agreement as the city wastes money on buildings and busses.
